I've long since patched my deployment of RHEL 5 machines for this bug.
A patch is in bugzilla.  #448012  

I also experiance these errors that started this thread from my RHN
Satellite v 5.1.  I have asked before about this when I was on 4.2 and
encuraged to upgrade.  It didn't get better....

Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository:         
rhel-x86_64-client-5. Please verify its path and try again
