Most CD ripping and tagging programs support an *additional* tag field called "Compilation" or similar. It doesn't replace any of the usual ones like Artist etc. If you want to use this feature in dbPoweramp, I think you need an addon called PowerPack.
I use Audiograbber, you just tick a box on the main screen if you're ripping a compilation CD and it adds the tag for you automatically. This gives me the "Various Artist" behaviour in Slimserver that I think you are looking for. All Slimserver does is display the tag information that you give it - it's not so much a slimserver issue but that you have to tell Slimserver that these are compilation albums before this feature will work. As you've already ripped your CDs you will need to add this tag manually. Tag & Rename supports the field "Part of a complilation" as does ITunes and Mp3Tag. Load up affected tracks in the Tag & Rename interface [or equivilent], select all, select "part of a compilation", save and close T&R, full rescan of Music Library. I think that some of the free databases like MusicBrainz will also tag music with the compilation field automatically. Hope this helps. There's lots of ongoing work on the Wiki, so if this solves your problem, please post back - so that it can be included. -- Siduhe ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Siduhe's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=723 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=20595 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
