That's interesting! Why would that be? Less compression meaning more disk activity? More intensive processing?
I'm running a 40GB iPod Photo and I'm able to play for much of the working day (ie up to approaching 8 hours /including/ pauses before dying, so possibly more like about 6 real), though I haven't been doing this for very long. I /do/ know that Rockbox have not done a lot of work on battery life optimisation at this time. Plus I do not think the battery status indication is terribly accurate.
