I currently have approximately 450 cds ripped as VBR (128-320) using Cdex and I am considering re-ripping them as Flac.
I would like some assistance with the following: If Flac is "lossless" why is there a compression setting? If I use Cdex for ripping should I set it to 0 or 8 for best quality . When I did my Cdex VBR rips, I used the CDDB which tagged my rips automatically. I have tried to do the same using Cdex and Flac but no tag information is stored. I have read that Flac does not like ID3 tag data. Does this mean that I cannot use CDDB and I have to tag all my discs manually.
