this works so far: album: name of piece - conductor > Symphony No.01 in C minor, Op.068 - Celibidache (numbered 01 to 09 means they alphasort before 10 etc in listings)
album artist: composer > Johannes Brahms (full name for all composers) artist: conductor, performers, orchestra > Sergiu Celibidache; Münchner Philharmoniker title: movement > I. Un poco sostenuto - Allegro genre: i agree who's got time, bare minimum, guitars=rock, rapping=hip-hop, techno=electronica and dance, blues=blues etc etc > Classical this approach seems to play nicest and most consistently with all the other music in the library. what i am playing about with right now, is trying to use the comment tag as a short display string, so instead of some conglomeration of the above, when playing it has something easier to display: "Brahms Symphony No 1" ... quick and easy to read from across the room, and no scrolling. so best of both worlds; i still have searchable, comprehensive and complete values in the main tags, and can use this tag for pretty-fied Squeezebox display ... and not just classical, abbreviating "Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band" to Beefheart means a whole lot less scrolling can just automate it in Mp3Tag, copy "Album Artist-Album" for all albums ... i can then customise as appropriate for classical or awkward non-classicals (only problem right now ... the Comment field doesn't seem to bubble up to the display, either Slim display settings or MusicInfo.scr - it stays blank ... not sure why???? so i'm temporarily abusing the Composer tag which does seem to work as described, just to try this idea out. once i figure it out, i'll quickly move the info to comment and delete the composer tag) david -- davidC ------------------------------------------------------------------------ davidC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3861 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=33600
