One interesting thing that I think always comes out of discussions like these is this: the different tagging/usage schemes that we all invent for ourselves actually reflect the different ways in which we think about our music.
That's a good thing - and one of the things I love about the slimserver approach is that it allows us the flexibility to do this. I really hate it when I feel I'm being forced to adopt someone else's thought pattern (it's a bit like being asked to understand a subject by looking at someone else's mind map - it almost never works). Of course all of us classical listeners could feel that we are trapped in a "pop/rock" paradigm in all of these tools - and BTW I still don't think that COMPOSER is well handled by slimserver, even with CustomBrowse. And don't get me started on the lack of PERFORMER support... But to go back to my original point - I see that a couple of recent posters are sticking to GENRE="Classical". This would drive me nuts - I get so much value from my multi-valued Genre tags, I just love being able to go and find some Chamber music when I want some, for example, or something Baroque. But each to his own... In the wiki, BTW, I was just trying to help beginners through what can be a very sticky period. I remember it took me a good month of surfing, posting and experimenting before I arrived at something that looked like it worked (most help from people on this forum, BTW). I absolutely agree that there are other ways of doing it and that once you've learned to walk, you can go off running in whatever direction takes your fancy!
