Well despite my concerns I actually had no problems at all. I just saved the music folder from my Windows PC onto the Western Digital passport USB hard drive and then plugged that into the Mac Mini and copied the folder onto the Mac Mini hard drive. Then installed slimserver and pointed it to this folder - job done.
