I suspect id3v2.x was able to hold user defined tags but never find the time to look at "how". Thanks snarly.
As this few last messages tends to prove, keeping your own track information (all information you wish to see/add with just the level of details you need/want) in a neutral place seems to be a good idea. To go one step further, I'm currently writing a perl "framework" that permits user to hold data in a xml file, the file is designed to hold data from any data source (user defined, freedb, amazon, musicbrainz, etc.) and "exporter plugins" permits to retag your whole library with a single command from the xml. Exporter could be generic or user written (I plan to write a configuration/declarative exporter in the future). If you look at my posts you can find some more posts about the reason I'm working on this. Before working on this xml framework, I put all my personnal stuff in MY-XXX tags and this was really handy! -- vrobin ------------------------------------------------------------------------ vrobin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11705 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40243 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
