Not quite. SC makes the decision whether the album is compilation or
not, but doesn't set any tags in the track - not in the sense of tags
one can see through the mp3tag program. So, if SC denotes an album as a
compilation, you won't be able to see any change in your files through
mp3tag. SC keeps that in its own database.

Now, SC makes the decision based on the rules that slimpy listed plus
another one: if COMPILATION tag is set to 0, than the album is not
considered a compilation, regardless of the variety of authors
participating. That can render different behaviour based on the
ALBUMARTIST tag. Basically, it will override 'Group compilation albums
together' switch.
