Is it my imagination or is all this stuff a) poorly documented, or b) undocumented?
I went through trial and error dealing with compilations and seem to have solved the problem by explicitly adding a COMPILATION=0/1 tag, as the case may be. I also have slimserver/ SC configured to: Group compilation albums together; and List albums by all artists for that album. My understanding of what then transpires in SC behaviour terms is that albums tagged COMPILATION=1 are explicitly treated as compilations, compilation albums show up under Various Artists when browsing albums and when browsing an artist, the compilations on which they appear are also listed as albums.
