the only secure ripper i know of is EAC, although other apps use
"accuraterip" to guage it.

i've never ripped with winamp, so i don't know if it supports it.

winamp has many variations of how to implement RG on playback,
including those u mentioned i think. u'll have to install it to see
them all. the only one i use is "apply gain" b/c i would not know what
the other methods are or do in practice.

i don't think it has a smartgain type feature... iow's, i'm not sure
it knows when to use album gain if you tell it you would rather it used
track gain.

winamps library management is awesome. its quick scanning, esp after
first scan, and it has awesome column sorting.

i used dbpoweramp a long time ago, and i know it supports accuraterip
now, (it didn't when i used it), but is it as secure as EAC? hard for
me to believe.
