Multi-disk albums, Compilation albums or specifically multi-disk compilation albums?
People shouldn't really need to do anything to get multi-disk compilations working - I haven't noticed any problems myself, it just works. People don't need compilation tags if all tracks are in the same source folder, which is a good thing, because there's no standard compilation tag in mp3 tags. If files are spread across many source folders (eg. iTunes configured with standard settings stores files like this), then a compilation tag may be required to ensure that the tracks are grouped together in one album, rather than an album per artist. People who have added Album Artist tags for compilations may have different issues, as by definition, the album may not be considered a compilation if all songs are by the same artist. A compilation tag may make the album appear as a compilation, but you get into the murky waters of whether Album Artist or Compilation has precidence. There's one Compilation field relating to an album record. Any compilation tags found in any tag format for any file type should set that field. There should not be any difference in processing between "TXXX COMPILATION" and "TXXX ITUNESCOMPILATION". If there is, it's a bug. I suspect there's something funny going on with the tags in the files. Perhaps a mixture of id3v1 and id3v2.3 tags? Maybe the software being used doesn't create custom tags correctly? -- Philip Meyer ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Philip Meyer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=95 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55045 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
