do not understand the "they tend to convert lossy files 20 times over with it" <confused>? Have you seen the latest dbpoweramp and how it does metadata? It uses 4 sources for data and compares them and trys to use the data that is the most consistent across the sources. You can inspect this as the end user too. Also 2 of the source AMG and I forget the other one are paid services and I have found to have very reliable data. AMG is where I use to go for data before dbpoweramp anyhow. Granted it is not perfect, however it gives you a big headstart over many others out there.
