I've downloaded the trial version of dbPoweramp, which I think behaves as (one of?) the paid-for versions for a couple of weeks. However, dbp doesn't seem to do what's described above. If I choose a "secure" rip, it always makes two passes before saying anything about AccurateRip. So if the disc shows up in AR, I usually rip one track in Burst Mode first; if that survives AR, then I'll use burst for the rest; otherwise I'll redo the whole lot in secure mode. In the latter case, it'd be slightly more efficient to be able to not waste effort re-encoding if the CRC matches for the burst-ripped track. That doesn't seem much better than what I'd do in EAC. (If the album's in AR, burst-rip. If any tracks don't match AR, test them in Secure mode. If the CRCs differ, re-rip them in Secure mode. Sometimes on a hunch I'll just re-rip them in Secure on the second step, expecting them to pass AR this time.) Can the paid-for version really be configured to stop after pass 1 in secure mode if it passes AR? Also, I've had a couple of pathological cases where after the second pass, dbp wanted to re-check tens of thousands of frames - which would take forever! (This might've been because I was doing other things that briefly put a big load on the CPU - annoyingly enough, that's when I'm also not keeping an eye on dbp, so I don't notice that it's gone weird on me...) So far, I've found that if I skip the track and come back to it afterward, it rips OK in two passes. I do have a lot of albums with 70-minute tracks, so might have to watch for dbp becoming a memory-hog! (And maybe it's time to expand the memory - 1G was a lot when I got this machine!)
