The addition (Disc 1 or Disc 1/1) is only added to a single disc if DISC is set to 1 and DISCC is not set. DISCC can be set by setting DISCNUMBER to 1/1 or to set DISC to 1 and DISCC (or TOTALDISCS; used by dbPoweramp) to 1. These methods lead to the same in the database of SC: albums.discc is set to 1.
So to avoid the addition, you either must leave the tag DISC empty _or_ you must follow one of the procedures mentioned above to set DISCC to 1. Suppression of (Disc 1) is therefore a tagging issue and no option is necessary to suppress it.
