The times that you would want album gain is when you listen to multiple
albums in a row and don't want to have to adjust the volume when albums
change.  The other reason is so that it doens't use track gain which
will make all the songs in an album at about the same volume.  This is
fine for playlists but a lot of songs on albums are supposed to be
quieter or louder than the other songs. This keeps the original volume
levels correct to each other on the album instead of making them all
the same level. This is one of he main reasons I make sure my albums
have both gains in the tags. It's just my reasoning and everyone has
different opinions on replay gain.  I really like it and never seem to
have any problems with it.
