This will be a never ending topic I believe. And it all is a matter of taste...
Just for your information: I live by an "Performing Artist"/Album structure. Tracks are tracknumber. trackname. For "classical" music (or music typically not performed by the composer, like for instance Thelonious Monk or Ludwig van Beethoven) the album is preceded with the composers (last) name. There's a Various Artists for compilations. But frankly as long as tagging is done correctly there is in principle no need to use a folder structure; just put them in one folder and let the software do the rest. As a bonus, my dbPoweramp CD Ripper uses the following naming macro: [IFCOMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],Various Artists[]\[album][IFMULTI] ([disc] of [disc_total])[]\[track] [artist][][IF!COMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album][IFMULTI] ([disc] of [disc_total])[]\[track][]. [title] which will work if you obtain the proper settings from the internet and correct them if needed (almost always for multi CD albums and for "classical" CDs). As for vinyl, I'm at a loss. You cannot play vinyl with the Slimdevices products (unfortunately), mine only play FLAC files. So I make sure the track get the proper tags. I might add in the comments the origin of the track. -- th00ht SqueezeBox v3 SqueezeCenter7.4 Quad 303 + Two Quad Electrostats 'last.fm' (http://www.last.fm/user/th00ht) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ th00ht's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15656 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63287 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
