I've got TONS of music ripped as AC3 or DTS. I've even ripped DVD-Audio as raw WAV files and re-encode to AC3/DTS (I have the software that does encoding). Normally, I play all of these rips on my Transporter into my surround decoder, but the SB3 should be able to do it. I do have two SB3s and would be happy to try if you don't get a definitive answer from anyone else, but I don't see why it shouldn't work. The only thing I know of the SB3/Duet won't do is play hi-sample rate files, i.e. 88.2/96k, but AC3/DTS should only be 48k.
One thing to check if you're only getting white noise... the volume control of the SB3 MUST BE SET to 100% so the data stream is unchanged. If the volume control is active, the decode will not happen because the stream is changed. Either disable the volume or turn it up all the way on the SB3 (I assume the Duet would be the same). -- Eric Seaberg Eric Seaberg - San Diego A.E.S., S.M.P.T.E., S.P.A.R.S.
