Thanks for the quick, and helpful response :) I am trying to wrap my
head around all this DVD-A ripping. My goal, as I am sure you are aware,
is to get the best quality, highest bit-rate 2-channel tracks from my
various DVD-A disks. Let see if I am closer to understanding now. I will
skip the DTS route for now as it does not "fit" with my current setup

1: Disks with NO stereo tracks, only multichannel 24/96

Downmix to 24/96 stereo, if this is supported, some do not seem to
work. 

or

Use the "Combine Groups" option to create a single file with all 5.1
channels?

2: Disks with a 16/48 or 24/96 stereo track

Do not downmix the multichannel tracks, rip the embedded stereo tracks
