hi everyone!

i have a huge collection of vorbis enocded tracks. 99,99% of them work
fine.

however, i have 5 or so which will cause my SB3/classics to
reproduceably choke at the same spot. the files play fine on my pc with
various players - even softsqueeze plays them fine.

i checked the bitrates and discovered that they soar far beyond 500
kbit/s. (a sample can be provided, the board does not allow me to upload
files that large)

this even though the files are encoded "only" @ q6. however, i use the
GTune3b2 vorbis encoder, which allocates more bits/s on tracks rich in
transients and high-frequencies.

however, the reference encoder @q10 has a "nominal" bitrate of ~500
kbit/s (whatever that means for a VBR encoder), which suggests that such
encoded files may not play properly as well...

perhaps re-encoding the track with the reference encoder and/or aoTuV
will fix this, i will try and report back.
hope that does NOT solve the problem tho, because in my subjective
mind, GTune3 @q6 just sounds best and is fully transparent to me and all
my listening buddies.

in the meantime, has anyone else here had vorbis files choking on
them?
btw. this can be greatly aggravated when using the large spectrum
analyzer screensaver.
