>> Album Artist is not just about placement/sort ordering. It's meant to >> be used for grouping differing artists on an album to appear as a single >> album artist name. > >right. so in other words, to sort it where you want it. Not really. Album Artist has very little to do with sorting. After all, you can have more than one album artist defined for an album (ALBUMARTIST=Robert Plant, ALBUMARTIST=Jimmy Page, or TPE2=Robert Plant;Jimmy Page). Which artist would it sort the album under then? If this album was a comedy album, would you put TPE2=Comedy - Robert Plant;Comedy - Jimmy Page?
Normally, you could click on an aritst name to see all albums by that artist. Clicking on the album artist "Comedy - Robert Plant", would not show all Robert Plant albums, only comedy ones (eg. "Christmas - Robert Plant" would not be listed). I get what you are doing, and if it suits your needs then thats great, but I can't see it being a common way of organising a library. Most people will use genres, or possibly album title formatting to achieve the same result. _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
