I have a similar problem but with a mixture of FLACs and MP3s (and a few aac/mp4s). I've never set replay gain on any tracks and would like to do so now, in a way that would be compatible with SBS, but also with the iPod for the MP3s, which as I understand it has a different set of tags which it reads for this purpose.
Preferably, I would like this to be completely automatic, and to set the tags by album (each album is in its own directory, so that should help hopefully). Another important thing is that the modification dates aren't updated on the files (I half-depend on the New Music list in SBS).
