Hi everybody, Again, thanks for all the advice and tips, and, took a week to get the time to play, but, here's what's ended up working for me.
First, my server settings: GROUP COMPLILATION ALBUMS TOGETHER LIST ALBUMS BY BAND So, here's what I've got, and here's what's happened: (For All Tracks On The Album) ALBUM=Damn The Torpedos ARTIST=Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers ARTISTSORT=Petty, Tom And The Heartbreakers ALBUMARTIST=Tom Petty ALBUMARTISTSORT=Petty, Tom (For All Tracks On The Album) ALBUM=Full Moon Fever ARTIST=Tom Petty ARTISTSORT=Petty, Tom ALBUMARTIST=Tom Petty ALBUMARTISTSORT=Petty, Tom (Applicable Track on Various Artists Compilation Album) ALBUM=Bridge School Concerts, Vol 1. TRACK=02 TITLE=Shadow Of A Doubt ARTIST=Tom Petty ARTISTSORT=Petty, Tom COMPILATION=1 (Applicable Track On A Pearl Jam album) ALBUM=2006 Tour Rarities TRACK=07 TITLE=American Girl ARTIST=Eddie Vedder;Tom Petty ARTISTSORT=Vedder, Eddie;Petty, Tom ALBUMARTIST=Pearl Jam COMPILATION=<blank> So . . now, with all that out of the way . . . I guess the answer to my original query was pretty much answered with the ALBUMARTISTSORT field which I wasn't aware of. Once I put that in, things worked great. But, then for all the other questions that came up . . . here's my results of that. "List albums by all artists for that album" or "List albums by band" had no effect, no matter which setting was chosen. "Group compilation albums together" would show me the following under ARTISTS: Various Artists Pearl Jam Tom Petty Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers Furthermore, if I looked at the artists themselves and what albums showed: Various Artists would show me the Bridge School Album Pearl Jam would show me the Pearl Jam album Tom Petty would show me everything (including the Heartbreakers album) Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers would show me just the Heartbreakers album. (Note that Eddie Vedder isn't listed as an artist) Then there was the question about whether I should use COMPILATION=0, or whether I should just remove the field altogether for albums that weren't Various Artists. So . . . That Pearl Jam album, I went and changed it from having no COMPILATION field, to having COMPILATION=0 Now what happened was the same results as before, other than now Eddie Vedder WAS listed as an artist, (but the rest of the artists on that Bridge School Various Artists album were NOT listed). And finally, of course, with "List compilation albums under each artist", obviously every artist shows up. So . . . I think that pretty much covers all the permutations there.
