I'm not using cue sheets. Multiple tracks are mutliple files. I've
tried having both single track albums and multi-track albums and I get
the same behavior either way. Namely, all the tracks are simply dumped
into a single album by SBS.

"The Lark Ascending" is the value of the ALBUM tag. Sometimes it can
also be the value of the TITLE tag, but that varies -- and it doesn't
seem to matter. The ALBUM tag together with the ALBUMARTIST tag is what
determines this. The behavior I'm seeing (admittedly without trying
every possible variation) is that if the values of these tags are the
same, then the files are listed together as a single album, no matter
where the files are stored or what the values of any other tags are.

Unfortunately, my little trick of making the TRACK tags the same value
(for instance, 1) has stopped working. I don't know why.

I've tried YEAR tags with both same and different values. I've tried
COMPOSER tags with both the same and different values. There usually
are no CONDUCTOR tags; when there are, their values differ.

File name example: 02 The Lark Ascending, romance for violin &
orchestra.flac

The directory hierarchy is generally:

ARTIST1
\ALBUM1
\ALBUM2
ARTIST2
\ALBUM1
\ALBUM2

In the "Lark Ascending" case, therefore, the albums were all
subdirectories of a single artist's directory. But lately I've been
testing with files in album subdirectories of different artist
directories.

As I said in my other reply, I think all that is needed to replicate
this problem is to make the ALBUM (e.g., "Greatest Hits") and
ALBUMARTIST (e.g., "Smith") tags the same. I would be curious to know
if anybody else can get this behavior.
