i'm not sure i understand exactly what you're trying to do? but i can explain how my station works, (see sig). we rip music into automation/live assist as a 256kbps mp2. that gets played thru a digital console board, and sent to the xmtr (in a different building) all digitally. the whole studio / setup / stl is digital.
at the xmtr, the omnia processor shapes the signal and converts it to analog. it then goes out as normal stereo FM. (i have heard people say FM itself is = to 64kbps mp3, but i think it sounds a bit better than that) in a different part of the studio's building, we have a HQ tuner feed a pro soundcard that feeds winamp and the streams. we use the 1.9.1 dsp which can do AAC as well as mp3, but we only use mp3 at the moment. we use shoutcast 1.9.8 but v2.0 is out now so it seems. we don't have it setup to send "song" tags, just stream info.
