not sure i helped much at all... ;) i'm sure other forum members here can better answer your question, i hope they chime in for you.
however, if the computer is on the same LAN your SBoxen are on, then however you broadcast, the SBoxen should be able to "tune into" it, rather easily. just give em the local IP/port for the broadcast. there are very few file types / stream types a SB can't handle. (i think file types are listed deep in the settings somewhere, they have switches and so on) they tune into a *.pls link, and the *.pls is going to most likely be a format (like eg. aac or mp3) the SB can handle. with dyndns you could even have SN tune into it. i don't know if there are any "free" lossless streaming solutions. icecast, oddcast maybe? www.radiotoolbox.com might have some ideas. the reason is most people aren't looking to "broadcast" only inside their own private LAN, which you pretty much would have to do considering the bandwidth requirements lossless will have, esp as a stream. i know SBS had a "wav input" plugin, and you could then tune the SBoxen to SBS, but i don't think it does metadata. just soundcard input. and SBS will only support a client or two "tuned" into it, as opposed to SBoxen connected to it. tell me if this is right: you have a DAB, which is a satelite/digital FM radio, yes? it has a digital audio only output, yes? optical or coax? s/pdif? the output is 44.1, but the source material was compressed before it reaches the output, (either when ripped, transmitted, or both) yes? thus you want to take whatever you get from it, and "rebroadcast it" as TCP/IP in an uncompressed manner, yes? your "box" is a small atom computer, and you want to use it to receive the audio, the metadata, and also to do the "rebroadcasting," yes? if i have all that right, to me, the trick is to find a streaming solution that will accept the audio on one port, (the audiocard of "the box" i take it?), the metadata on the rs-232 port, and then turnaround and stream it all as uncompressed. but if you are able to do that, i am fairly certain that SBS and the SBoxen will be able to tune into it, and play it, whatever the solution. i'd love to know if you figure this out! -- MrSinatra www.lion-radio.org using: sb2 & sbc (my home) / sbrec & ipeng (parent's home) - sbs 7.5.2b - win xp pro sp3 ie8 - p4(ht) 3.2ghz, 2gig ram - 1tb wd usb2 raid1 - d-link dir-655 - 43k+ mp3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81604 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
