Re dbpa and art. In the ripper program, click on OPTIONS, then the "options button" next to "metadata and ID Tag". There are two places here. The top section is where you can select to write the art to a folder.jpg (or some other name). Farther down, in the tag info (under write ID tags), if you've checked the box next to album art, you'll also embed the artwork. So you can do both, either one, or neither with dbpa. Personally, I use folder.jpg only with FLAC files, but I've accidentally had both in the past and it didn't cause any problems. See pics.
