Hi all,

I've largely run out of ideas on this one, so thought I'd see if anyone out
there can point me in the right direction.

My Rivendell system is set up to occasionally take mp3 input from a Windows PC,
using the 'Download' feature of RDCatch.

Up until now the Windows PC has been running Win95 (yes!), but the PC is
finally on its last legs and I'm intending to change it over to one running
WinXP.

For years the download has been running perfectly using the URL
"smb://host/path/filename" protocol.

However I am not able to get exactly the same thing running when sourcing the
same mp3 file from a *WindowsXP* machine. The download starts (and is logged
as such in the RDCatch log) but then drops out after about 2secs, without
finishing.

In Konqueror I am able to see the file I want (across the network, using
smb://host/path/filename in the address-window) and can import it manually if I
wish, or move it around wherever I want. So I'm satisfied the networking
aspect is all correct. Plus I've given the Windows PC more-or-less unlimited
security clearance in the meantime, so that there are no issues.

I've even called the WinXP machine exactly the same name and IP address as the
old one, but to no avail.

It would seem that, although Linux/SuSe is able to access/view/move the file
okay, *Rivendell* itself cannot.

So my question is:

Does anybody know why RDCatch-Download would work happily on a Win95 (or any
pre-NT) machine, but not on a WinXP or later PC? Is something no longer
supported by Rivendell, or similar? Or is there a configuration-file somewhere
I should be updating?

It looks like I will have to devise a quite different/workaround solution, but
before I do that I thought I'd put this problem out there in case someone has a
very simple/obvious answer they can offer.

As always, any/all help/ideas/suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks,

James L.
