Hi James.
You could do the file transfer the other way?
Create a folder in the Linux machine /home/username ... call it
"shared" for want of a better name. Right click on it using Konqueror
or nautilus... change the properties to "Read-Write" for
owner...group... and others.
Now right click again and enable sharing on the folder. It might want
to install a program called "samba" if it isn't already installed.

Now go to the winxp machine... and browse the network (my network
places) on explorer (it will probably show up on a network group
called workgroup)... find your shared folder... right click on it and
"map" the drive on winxp. Give it a Drive letter that isn't going to
clash with anything else on that machine... eg usb stick cdrom drives
etc. It will now show up as an extra drive in my computer. So now just
save the files on whatever drive letter you created.

NB If the map option doesn't show up in "My Network Places" ...click
on the "Tools" menu along the top...and then "Map Network Drive"...
you might have to browse the network. And again give it a drive letter
that isn't going to clash with anything else.

Many thanks
Geoff Barkman
