The only thing I can suggest is seeing if you can run a live cd version of Centos 5.5 and then do an lspci to see what comes up for the raid card. Then fudge around until you can actually use the thing.
My suspicion is that the drivers aren't built into the kernel and its simply a case of hardware not found. If that is the case you might end up having to roll your own CentOS install. Some info from the forums is that if the card can be set to AHCI mode you can use it as 6 individual disks and then use the setup partitioner to install lvm and a software raid.
