Two have complained explicitly that audience interruption prevented the presentation from being completed. One has asked to remain anonymous, and the other may make himself known if he wishes. A total of three people (not including myself) have mentioned that the talk was noticeably off-topic, but that it was nonetheless interesting and they didn't mind. Mark brings up some good points later in his response, however. Perhaps the blame rests with those presiding over the meeting (including myself) for not speaking up when a subthread has outlived its usefulness and guiding the talk back to the presenter. To Rick, I'm grateful for your tolerance in this case. As I hoped I made clear, you as the presenter would be free to invoke any style you wish under my proposal, so your Socratic style would not be inhibited.
