Cary,

Slipstream allows you to adjust the quality of the images you see. Being that images are the main reason for slowly opening pages, it seems fit to pixilate them to the nth degree. You can also right click an image and say 'show original image'. I don't see this as a problem, but a blessing. I'm not one who surfs for pictures; it is the text that I'm after and most internet users. IMHO all web accelerators are going to have adverse side affects and it boils down to which one you customers prefer to use.

We are running an Artera Server. I tried Slipstream last night from Global
Pops and didn't like it nearly as well as Artera.

I didn't think the image quality was nearly as good as Artera. To me,
Slipstream seemed to degrade the picture severely. At highest compression
setting, Artera is just "barely objectionable", although I realize that is a
personal decision.

I think Artera's logon process is too long, they don't use Radius Auth, but
some other scheme.

Subject: [Rodopi] IKANO, wholesale dial-up

I have heard GREAT things about Global Pops from quite a few people. I

have

not heard any positive feedback on IKANO in quite a while. They were

pretty

good a few years back and then started slipping as they got bigger.

We currently use Yournetplus and they are OK, service is fine but support

is

VERY weak. I've heard good things about GlobalPOPS but have no

experience,

and I've heard very negative about IKANO but it is second hand. For
accelerator we've used XL which is Altera (sp?) through Yournetplus, I

only

rate this as fair, the accelerator software works ok but support from YNP

is

weak. The other issue is that if the machine has different users on it
using the same dialup connection, and each with their own windows logon,

the

accelerator will work only with one, very bad. I don't know if Slipstream
has this issue or not.

(I know I keep asking these kinds of questions, but this is a great source
for some honest feedback!)

If you've outsourced wholesale dialup services (e.g., to IKANO,

Slipstream,

Global POPs or someone else), which company did you choose and what's your
experience been?

We're looking closely at IKANO, and would love some honest feedback about
their services. We'll be integrating with RODOPI and Vircom VOP RADIUS.

Thanks in advance. Feel free to contact me off-list at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

if

you prefer.
