Do you mean to say that you *can't* temporarily move a segment to another
track? That would make more sense, so I will assume that's what you meant.

Yes, that's true, but if I have some need to shuffle things around in a
composition I have already trimmed of excess tracks, then I just hit the damn
new track button an appropriate number of times (or go to Tracks -> Add
Multiple Tracks if there are going to be quite a lot of them), do my moving,
and then delete the tracks again.

So, no, Guillaume. I understand what you're saying about a spreadsheet here,
and there are real parallels. Nevertheless, I don't agree that we should
work that way. What you've done with the actual fix, rather than the fix
Chris talked you out of, is make Rosegarden's behavior match up with my
expectations. Vlada's too, apparently, and Chris's, and surely a host of
others who would have been racing to fire off the first bug report if you had
enforced a 64-track minimum.

I'm glad Chris was around to step in and divert you so deftly from that path,
because I would have been first in line to start bitching, and I would have
bitched long and loud. I am very firmly in favor of the current behavior.

Oh, and thank you very much for removing this irritating thorn from my side.
The broken scroll behavior has been getting on my nerves for ages, and it is
a true delight to see it fixed at last. I tried myself, and I just didn't
get that the root of it was because you were creating a canvas big enough to
hold 64 tracks, whether they existed or not. Had I realized that, I would
have fixed it myself long ago, and would not have hesitated or debated before
committing that fix. That that is the true path to correct behavior is very
clear to me.
