I've been using jack_capture (just # jack_capture is the command) to save RG
replay as .wav file

If carla really is a dssi plugin-manager supporting just about everything then
I'm all for it (but I don't know how to load it into RG as a plugin itself,
can't find much user guidance for carla, and carla seems unavailable on Devuan
for example).

prad asked at one point if standalone/plugin. I found this:
https://www.rosegardenmusic.com/doc/en/studio-plugins.html
"Using a synth plugin gives you somewhat better control and repeatability than
using an external MIDI device, because Rosegarden will be able to load the
correct plugins for you and use the correct settings the next time you load
your same file. Plugins may also offer better timing resolution than external
MIDI devices, and synth plugin instruments have the advantage of being routable
like audio instruments, which also means you can add effects plugins on top of
them."

I presume that *external MIDI devices* refers to standalone hardware OR soft
synths? If plying a project through many consecutive sessions to get it done
then the plugin settings being saved and reloaded each time is a distinct and
huge benefit from my point of view.
