--- Comment #34 from Gergely Gombos <[email protected]> ---
Nicolas, thanks for the detailed explanation.
I'm a beginner packager and learnt packaging so that I could submit this
package. A tough one it seems! (At least I have been able to start maintaining
other packages)
Packaging issues could be sorted out quickly, I can quickly correct the macros
which are a minor nuisance at most but not critical errors.
It only Recommends the codecs because they are optional at runtime and most
people would only use 1 codec, either AAC or LDAC or aptX depending on their
hardware. So I didn't want to make all of them mandatory at runtime.
Because this AAC licensing thing is a confusing mess for me (and apparently for
other people, too, thanks to how the FDK-AAC license works), what if I just
submit it without AAC support until
a) There will be an upstream build with ffmpeg AAC
b) fdk-aac-free will be sorted out in Fedora and it can safely be added as a
dependency.
It would stay in the free RPMFusion repo, the name wouldn't change, only a
dependency would.
