I ran into some issues with our RT installation that fortunately only caused problems with the interface. However, the problems required a fresh installation of RT. It goes fairly well with a few exceptions.
When I download and untar both RT and RTx-Shredder the owner is set to 1000:1000 despite being logged in as root. How do I avoid this. I end up having to chown the entire directory before I can install anything. Also when I go to install Shredder, the install directories are set to drwx------. I have to chmod all directories related to it in order to make it somewhat usable. However, even after doing this it doesn't show up under Configuration->Tools. So what might I be doing wrong here? What do I need to do differently to get this to install as smoothly as it should?
