Thanks for trying it out Tomek. I'm sort of glad you didn't see it - at
least I know it's not in my software. On the other hand, it must be in
my system - kernel, bios or hardware. I've played with all extensively. :(

I'm running rtlinux-2.2 on kernel 2.2.14. I'm willing to switch to one of
the pre3.0 if you anyone thinks it will help, but I've seen a glitch with
every kernel I can remember (back to the rtl-0.7j I think?)

I've tried every conceivable bios configuration, particularly disabling
everything related to APM and PNP. I've removed everything from the ide1
bus and have taken the SCSI bus out of the computer. The only device on
ide0 is the hard drive. I have removed the ethernet card. (Yes, I'm going
to power down and reinstall it before I can send this email.) Aside from
the hard drive, only the floppy and the video card are connected. If you
think it'd help, I'll take out the video card and test it the system
remotely.

- hard drive is a Maxtor 91296D6
- 128M RAM

This machine is a Dell bought in Jan99. The other machine (whose specs I
haven't listed) is a Micron bought in summer97. It has been similarly
stripped of devices and bios optimized, to no avail.

Thanks Again - Chuck
