Rails treats both databases the same -- the areas of difference are far beyond what beginning tutorials would cover. Heck, you could even start learning with SQLite and not have to install *anything* (since SQLite is also incorporated in Mac OS). It may not be much of a database, but it should definitely be OK for learning your way around Rails.
