Thank you both very much for investigating and fixing the issue! I
backported the patch from v14.9 branch to the MacPorts package [1],
and it works! Building s-nail is fine with Apple awk on 10.9~10.11 and
10.13, 10.14 build servers [2]. Build servers for other OS X versions
are busy on other packages, and I believe they will work, too.

Done in the aforementioned GitHub commit, too. The domain name part
@macports.org is omitted following MacPorts convention - the full
email address is yan12...@macports.org.
