NMRA, so possibly those setting up the tours are not aware of them. Or many
scalers have collections of models but no finished layout....

That could open up a another complete discussion area, "why not?," but I
doubt it would accomplish anything. I went to my local NMRA division
meeting this past Saturday, took two other S scalers with me. Most of those
guys know me, that I do S scale, but they'd never had three S scalers at a
meeting before. The man who had prepared the material for the little
billboards we all built apologized for not having it in S, he had only HO
and N. Then we went and visited a really nice On3 layout.
And I've been asked several times at these division meeting, aren't there
any S scale layouts around here we can visit?. But they wouldn't want to
come and look at my pile of unbuilt and half built kits; and the nearest
really presentable S layout is about an hour's drive from here.
I've said this before and I'm not sure anyone believes me, but you can learn
from good modellers in other scales as well as teach them how wonderful S
is.
I'm trying to persuade the authorities in my S gauge club to schedule a
meeting that would involve a visit to a not-to-far Sn3 layout, but the idea
does not catch on.
