Hi all:
I am trying to find out some information for someone, and I must admit 
that I know essentially nothing about DCC.  However, I read a few pages 
(have become a little dangerous) and have one basic question.
The person will be using the NCE Power Pro for DCC.  He has a Magna 
Force transformer that puts out 15 VAC to his power pro, but it operates 
on 110 V input - so he thus needs a stepdown transformer (from 220 VAC 
to 110 VAC).  Alternatively, does this mean that he could use one of the 
old AC Gilbert transformers, that were made for overseas use, which take 
220 VAC and drop it down to the usual 15-18 VAC base post and the 
variable 7-16 VAC for operating the engines?  The MagnaForce transformer 
doesn't supply DC to the Power pro, so unless one needs a carefully 
regulated power supply, it seems as though these older, cheaper 
transformers could do the job and thus bypass the magnaforce transformer 
and the stepdown transformer.  I think they need to have about 6 amps 
available, also.
Any comments, suggestions, is this all wishful thinking, etc.????
