Bill,  I have mentioned on several prior occasions that I use a program 
called Rail Ops.  Once you plug all the data in, you can print out lists 
of all sorts.  i.e. engine numbers, original manufacturer, decoder 
number and type etc.  The real part of the program is actually in the 
makeup of trains.  I will make a guess and say that 2/3 of the 
operations in my area use the program.  I'm just starting on my layout 
but have used it when visiting other layouts--seem to be a overall great 
program.  I think it ran me about one hundred.
