I suspect that there are very few S folks who are not indirectly connected -
i.e.: they aren't on the list, but know one or more people who are.

Reaching out directly to these people is more likely to be effective than
waiting for a note in the magazines, which may go unnoticed, or the convention,
which many folks do not attend. Unless someone is at the convention collecting
reservations, there is also the chance that the car gets talked up, then
forgotten once the event is over.

Just look at how many folks missed the earlier mentions of the SAL car, dating
back to Aug and Jan 2010, Jan 2009 and further to 2006 (at which point I
stopped searching). Same thing with my Fruit Grower's reefer roofs. Folks I
KNOW were on the list when there where threads about the part are surprised to
find out it is available.

Even if we aren't going to buy enough here on this list (less than 10% of the
members need to buy one car each and we would have it covered...), we can still
be part of MAKING IT HAPPEN rather than sitting o one side and waiting. I've
emailed the newsletter people of two clubs I'm a member of, urging them to get
a note out about the car.
