Bill,

May I suggest using some 1/4" plywood, wetted and curved around a form, allowed 
to dry, then glued together into three layers (3/4" thick) with something like 
the new Titebond glue, or Gorilla glue.  I think the Titebond would be cheaper 
and adequate.  You'll need to make a special form for the bending and glue-up.
