REPLY : I agree. I just checked their site and the $50 price folks have been throwing around is correct. I can see paying $30 or $35 for a shell, but not $50. I cannot justify that price... especially not an undecorated shell. ----- Original Message ----- From: David Engle To: Degnan, John Sent: Thursday, September 08, 2011 06:02 PM Subject: Alco FA-1/FB-1 proposed project > Do I understand right you want to do three A-B sets of FA-1s. I just want a A and B shell for now for experimentation to make sure the conversion can be done ACCURATELY and how much work it is gonna be. If it works and isn't too labor intensive, I will probably just buy three complete, undecorated FA-2s and three complete, undecorated FB-2s and convert them. Damn shame someone can't be convinced to produce replacement shells for the AM models. Should be an easy conversion since (according to the drawings I have) the FA-2s/FB-2s had the same truck centers as the FA-1/FB-1s did.
