Hi Ed, I spanned the door to my last layout room with a removable section.
It was quite simple, a 3/4" plywood bridge cut to 46 inch radius with sides
glued on as guards. It was about a 30 inch span across the doorway. It rested
in plywood saddles screwed onto the layout fascia. The end ties at the joints
were PC board with the track soldered on them. Power was fed thru metal spring
clips and posts that were old cabinet door latches. The spring clips held the
bridge in place with just a slight tug needed to remove it. The bridge joints
were just as reliable as regular track and I never had any de-railments. I hung
the bridge on a hook on the nearby wall when not using the layout so the entry
was clear.
The 46 "radius was tight for O scale but would have been great for S scale. I
still have the bridge section and will probably re-use it on my new layout.
I put 4 new photos in the photo section in an album named "lift out" if anyone
wants to see it..DaveBranum
