Jim, I don't think one car is reason enough to buy a book, or I would do it in a heartbeat. I can't believe all the turmoil I've caused on two Yahoo lists just to acquire one car (not "one car", as such, but one RI 40-ft. plug door box car) to represent Rock Island on SHABBONA RR.
None the less. I certainly appreciate the efforts of all those who have pitched in with advice and help. The Rock Island C.R.I.X. PD cars an unusual car due to their low numbers, and to have one fits well with SHABBONA's operations. As for the, book, I had an easier time with the CGW version, and they only had FIVE of these cars. On another front, I painted the ends and roof on one of SHABBONA's newly-acquired PD boxcars. That car now has boxcar red sides with black ends/roof. The other three cars will follow suit as soon as I find time to do them. I go back to Iowa City next Thursday; as much time/money as I've spent up there, I fully expect to find my portrait hanging on a wall, in the men's room maybe, but on a wall, at least.
