HI Bob,
I'm going to try to get this Shinohara working over the weekend.  It is a left 
hand #6 turnout, fed from the point end back about 2 feet, then fed again on 
the left side about 2 feet up the track.  I gapped the rail above the frog on 
the "main".  Now it works, unless I throw the bar to the main then it shorts 
out.   Any help you could give would be much appreciated.

Haven't read all the replies to your question, but isolating the frogs on 
Shinohara turnouts, or any other solid frog turnout, is NOT necessary.

What IS necessary is to make sure your electrical feeder wires are connected to 
the OUTSIDE rails (sometimes referred to as "ahead of the points") of the 
switch.

If you have any more questions, contact me off line and I'll see if I can help. 
After all, I designed these switches, and took the usual barrage of "higher 
criticism" flak from the experts for my efforts.
