Ed, I'm glad you brought that up. I've been meaning to talk to you
about bumping my head on the braces of your layout a few times during my
visit there! Doctor says I have a permanent brain freeze! LOL
Also I didn't know the NASG had such a program. Does that mean a local
NASG group could utilize the national's insurance? How do the guys
putting on the Spring and Fall events handle those issues?

Even accidents in your own residence are covered by the NMRA insurance
if someone falls down and injures himself while visitng your layout.
Cannot be too careful these days.
Interestingly, the NASG also has liability insurance for group
meetings. For the "S"acto convention this past summer, our Saturday
night banquet in the roundhouse was required to have liability
insurance by the State of California. Good old Lee Johnson came to the
rescue with coverage via the NASG which cost us ZERO BUCKS. Thanks to
Lee and the NASG, the dinner fee that night was several dollars less
than it would have been.
