Hi John: Ah... "mature" does sound so much better than "old"... especially when we're referencing ourselves!
As for the engine sounds and being an "enginear". Engine's will ruin your ears, that's for sure! (Hay? What'cha say? Better speak up there Sonny!) I wear ear plugs that knock 30db off a noise. Now, about 3 or 4 feet above my head sits an air horn that blows at 130db. Thus, I'm still getting 100db every time that noise happens. And I wonder why I have tinnitus? (Constant ear ringing.)
